Atlantic Woodlands in Britain & Ireland

Information Note: Atlantic Woodlands in Britain & Ireland.

Temperate Rainforests and Southern Oceanic Woodlands.

Introduction

The western seaboard of Britain and Ireland supports a network of internationally important woodlands, recognised as Atlantic woodlands. These are typically old-growth woodlands, in clean-air situations, that are strongly influenced by oceanic (wet & mild, with equable annual temperatures) to pluvial hyper-oceanic (very wet & mild, with equable annual temperatures) climates.
