Love your Burial Ground Week with Caring for Gods Acre

Event Type
Specialist meetings
Start date
End date
Event Description:

For over 15 years the charity Caring for Gods Acre has run a series of events in June that focus on the celebration of churchyards, chapel yards and cemeteries. Known as Love your Burial Ground week, the celebration can include a number of different types of events, but there is an emphasis on recording the wildlife supported by these areas, including lichen.

In 2025 the week runs from Saturday 7th to Sunday 15th June and more details can be found in the organisation's website:

https://www.caringforgodsacre.org.uk/about-love-your-burial-ground-week-with-churches-count-on-nature-2024/

Churchyards are an important source of lichen biodiversity and the Love your Burial Ground week offers an opportunity to highlight this and promote good management. Involvement in events during this week could range from offering some sort of support to local groups that look after churchyards that are keen to record lichen or talks on the importance of churchyards for lichen biodiversity, or being part of a bioblitz.
