Event Description:

Sorby Natural History Society (Sheffield)

Lichen Meeting to Bolehill Woods on the Longshaw Estate
Tuesday 14 October 2025
Leader: Steve Price, email: lichenrecords@sorby.org.uk

Advanced notice of a change of meeting location

The Lichen Meeting on 14 October 2025 will now be to Bolehill Woods on the Longshaw Estate rather than to Sprotbrough as listed in the programme.

A recent recce outing to Sprotbrough revealed how few lichens are to be found there. The legacy of heavy industry, Sheffield to the west and Doncaster to the east, is that the lichen flora there is still rather impoverished.

Further details will be posted here nearer the date of the meeting.
