Event Description:

When seen under a hand-lens, many lichens have delightful tessellating patterns, subtle even startling colours and a sense of mystery.

This is an opportunity to become familiar with a few of the more common or distinctive lichens of the Yorkshire Dales.  If you are local person you will be able to go back to the churchyard and revisit some of the lichens you have met on this walk.

This is an introduction to Lichens in Linton Churchyard for beginners and near beginners. It will be led by Judith Allinson of Settle. Judith runs Zoom "Lichen chat and Improvement" groups for the BLS, and recently gave a talk to Upper Wharfedale Field Society in Grassington.

This (almost) two hour workshop/walk is free, but it is necessary to book as places are limited -email zoom-improvement@britishlichensociety.org.uk

People who already have some experience of lichens are welcome to stay on afterwards and make a more thorough survey of the church-yard with three other intermediate lichenologists.
