Vouauxiella lichenicola

Commensalistic to parasitic in the apothecia of Lecanora species, especially L. chlarotera s. lat., with the pycnidia mainly found at the edges of the discs adjoining the thalline margin, infected discs often decolourized giving them a piebald appearance, sometimes also on the thallus. A very common fungus, distinct in the chains of conidia and the smooth conidia walls (if the conidia walls are verrucose see Vouauxiella verrucosa).
