General Description
On schistose rocks on exposed SW-facing cliffs near Loch Maree, Wester Ross, very rare. Distinguished by the dark brown, glossy thallus that is strongly fragmented. The black apothecia are noticeably pinched below. Lecidea paupercula is of similar appearance and chemistry, but has flatter areoles, an I+ blue medulla, a dark hypothecium and lacks miriquidic acid.
