Cladoniicola staurospora

A recently described lichenicolous fungi of Cladonia squamules, occurring as dark brown pycnidia immersed in the host tissues. The conidia are highly distinctive, has have four arms and form a bent H shape. Reported to be an aggressive parasite, killing squamules and fruiting on decolorized parts of the host thallus.
