Following on from the successful pilot intermediate lichen course level 1 (Lichen Laboratory Extension and Fieldwork course (LEAF 1) in May 2023, there will be another exciting 4-day face to face course at this level at Preston Montford near Shrewsbury, SY4 1HW.

This is designed for those who have completed a Lichens for Absolute Beginners Course (LABS) and have followed up with a 12-month period of self-directed post course lichenology and those with a similar skill level.

The course aim is to build on the post LABs experience extending knowledge and skills and is focused on lichen ID. The course will involve both field and laboratory work including building on microscopy skills with the compound microscope (microscopes will be provided if needed). This broadly follows the Skills and Knowledge of a Lichenologist,  Intermediate Level 1 document on the BLS website.
