Description:
The South West Lichen Group has its foundations in Devon (previously as the Devon Lichen Group) and aims to promote the study and conservation of lichens across the South-West. The Devon Lichen Group was established by Barbara Benfield in the 1990s and then after a short hiatus, was continued by April Windle and Nathan Chrismas. After another short break, and a wave of new lichen interest in Devon, it is now re-forming with Fred and Lindsay as coordinators.
We arrange field meetings throughout the year, which are open to anyone, from complete beginners through to experts. We are keen to hear from anyone in Devon or neighbouring counties who would like to join us.
Meetings: Meetings will be held throughout the year and will be advertised on the BLS Events & Meetings page. All members of the group are encouraged to get involved in organising events and suggesting suitable venues.
As well as being on the BLS Events page, details of events will also be sent to those on the SWLG mailing list. We also have a WhatsApp group to share photos and chat about lichens in between meetings. There is also a South West Lichens Facebook group.
