The group was formed in response to an increasing interest in lichens that was becoming evident locally and to help interested people take their first steps in the study and appreciation of all things lichen. We are an informal group of like-minded people that welcomes all. Members set the agenda (decide what aspects of lichenology they want to delve into, explore, discuss etc). No experience is needed but a love of lichens is a must!!
Our aims are to learn about lichens and their habitats, to pool our knowledge and learn together, to add to the knowledge of Lichens in Pembrokeshire, to explore the artistic and social/philosophical aspects of lichens and to raise awareness of lichens and their habitats.
We plan to run events such as field meetings, indoor and outdoor identification and learning events, artistic and awareness raising/education events.
As far as possible, we will be a "self-learning group" - we learn together and share knowledge. Members take the lead where they can -we recognise that everyone has something to bring to the group, regardless of their experience. We build community, care and kindness.
