Ivy growing on trees can elicit very different reactions. For many species it is beneficial, but increasing Ivy growth is a serious issue for lichen conservation both on trees and rocks. Balence is needed between the benefits and the problems caused for lichens by Ivy overgrowth, as is discussed in the position statement.
