Some good news from Heather Paul. The Findhorn Hinterland Trust has been awarded Nature30 status by the Scottish Government and NatureScot see link. They are the first in Scotland to be recognised by this new scheme promoting conservation NatureScot link

The Findhorn Hinterland Trust is a local charity open to all and working on ‘wild’ land in the Findhorn area to promote conservation, education, the building of local community and the provision of recreational facilities and activities. It manages part of the exceptionally lichen rich dunes of the Findhorn Dunes.

Management has included clearing and burying large areas of dense Gorse on stablished dune to produce open pioneer stand dune habitats. The changes are to be monitored, including lichen recolonisation.
