Sorby NHS (Sheffield) - Stanage Edge northern end
22nd July 2017, 10:00
Saturday 22 July 2017 - the northern end of Stanage Edge
A full-day meeting to record lichens at the northern part of Stanage Edge. Gritstone boulders and moorland will the primary habitats to be studied. The meeting will study areas not reached by last September's meeting which was abandoned because of rather heavy rain.
Meet at 10.00am at grid ref SK227843. This is the Dennis Knoll car park above the village of Hathersage. The car park is free (no toilets) and is not very large hence the earlier than usual meeting time to try to ensure there is parking space for the group.
See http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=422750&Y=384350&A=Y&Z=115 for a map of the area
If anyone has transport difficulties from Sheffield, Joan Egan may be able to assist, please contact her on 0114 236 5002.
As usual people with all levels of experience are welcome. Strong footwear and waterproof clothing are recommended. This is high moorland - be prepared for all weathers! Bring a hand-lens, lunch and drinks.
