Sorby NHS (Sheffield) - Ox Stones, Ringinglow
16th September 2017
Saturday 16th September 2017 - Ox Stones, Ringinglow
This meeting will be a good opportunity for beginners and the less experienced to get familiar with the common lichens on millstone grit. The Ox Stones outcrops and 'obelisks' seem to hold all the species one would expect to see in this habitat and should also hopefully offer a few of those that are more special. There is nothing in the database from this immediate area so everything seen on the day will add to our knowledge.
Meet at 10.30am at grid ref SK2788 8348. This is a lay-by on Ringinglow Road opposite the western end of 'Lady Canning's Plantation'.
See http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=427885&Y=383485&A=Y&Z=115 for a map of the area showing the location of the meeting place.
As usual people with all levels of experience are welcome. Strong footwear and waterproof clothing are recommended. Although within the City boundaries this is high moorland - be prepared for all weathers! Bring a hand-lens, lunch and drinks.
