Lorn Natural History Group - Lichen Identification Workshop
20th May 2017, 10:00 to 21st May 2017, 16:00
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May 2017
Lichen Identification Workshop
Scotland's west coast is a world hotspot for lichens, with many globally rare species thriving in our humid Atlantic woodlands, as well as a wide range of once-common species which have disappeared from other areas due to pollution.
Lorn Natural History Group is offering a 2-day lichen identification workshop with leading local lichenologist Andy Acton. This will include plenty of time in the field looking at lichens of various habitats, as well as time spent indoors explaining the important features of lichens and looking at how to use keys to identify them. The use of chemical tests and UV light will also be covered.
Dates: Sat 20 to Sun 21 May.
Times: 10:00 am to about 4:00 pm
Venue: Appin Village Hall
Cost: £12 Free to paid-up LNHG members
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during indoor periods, but please bring your own lunch and any food and drink you will need when outdoors.
Please book by emailing Carl Farmer [mailto: firstname.lastname@example.org] . If you can only come for part of the workshop it would be helpful if you could give a rough indication of your expected times of attendance. You can amend this later on if it changes.
